Re-Ignite..From Matches to Flames
Hello Family! Congratulations you’ve made it to the month of June, we’re now halfway through the year 2023! During this time of year, students are entering into summer break and employees are preparing for vacations. This time of year is often marked as the period between two others. Some say it’s a time to reflect, a time to realign yourself, or as I like to say, a time to re-ignite yourself towards your passions and goals.
Life never follows the same direction for too long. In fact, it’s full of many twists and turns. There’s high seasons and low seasons but in between each major moment in life, there is a stationary or transition period. Very seldom are there many great and diverse moments in life without periods that are slow or stationary. This month I’m here to tell you that, THAT IS OKAY, in fact, stationary seasons are NECESSARY.
As you’re reading, you’re probably wondering what does it mean to “re-ignite” yourself. In the real world, the act of re-igniting something is simply sparking a new flame in a fire that has begun to die down. We should prioritize doing the same thing for our goals and our passions. It’s easy to start strong towards a goal that we have but in order to follow through with that goal we must keep that flame of desire alive. Sometimes, that requires us to even have to re-ignite that flame.
Whether you’re on Summer break, PTO or simply just in a neutral season of life right now, I encourage you to maximize this time to re-ignite yourself. As important as it is to grind and work hard, it is just as important to take time to re-ignite yourself. A few ways that you could achieve this is by:
Reminding yourself of your personal goals
Reflecting on your progress thus far
Refining your goals as needed
Taking some time to rest
Dreaming (allow yourself to think freely without restriction about “what’s feasible”)
Rewarding yourself (Small wins/progress matters!)
Doing these things not only help keep you encouraged but they help keep you in alignment with the direction that you intend to go in life!
As I conclude, if no one has told you already, I am so proud of you. Oftentimes in this day and age, we measure our successes based off of tangible results but in reality, true success lies in the things that we don’t always see. The fact that you have the desire to become a better version of yourself and that you’re willing to take steps every day or week towards meeting that end, is a win in itself. Be proud of yourself for that and acknowledge those things along the way. The best part about stationary seasons is that we are slowed down enough to be able to see how far we’ve come as we continue to move forward! With that being said, re-ignite yourself this month and continue to press towards your version of success.
Remember : Life’s A Journey, Not A Competition.
